THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Many thanks to all who made our recent Polar Express party such a success.  One hundred and forty-five people came out to join in the fun!

Heartfelt cheers to Miss Joanne, for her wonderful reading of the The Polar Express, for leading the carol singing, and for making the night extra special with her presence and toasty hugs.

The following local vendors gave VERY generously to our event and enabled us to offer our audience wonderful refreshments :
  • Community Oven
  • Gallery Hatch
  • Greg's Bistro
  • Hannaford
  • Jumpin' Jack's Java
  • Las Olas
  • Lena's Pizza
  • Market Basket
We are so grateful for your support!

Our deepest appreciation also to the families who contributed goodies as well.  You brought in such fabulous treats!

Major kudos to Noah, Jacy, and Ben Abasciano, Gary, Jonathan, and Bethany Kimball, and Anni Lewis for their incredible assistance as our Polar Express elves.  They punched tickets, counted noses, sponged on temporary tattoos, wrote down wishes to Santas, and brought amazing good cheer and helpful hands to the proceedings.

Darrell Eifert took fabulous pictures of the youngsters, and he and Stacy Mazur kindly aided us in setting up the Lane Room.  Miss Wendy, Miss Julie, and Miss Kathleen outdid themselves with planning, preparing, decorating, and craft-creating.

As always, our deepest appreciation to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit us at Lane and delight youngsters and grownups alike.

The Children's Room wishes all our patrons and benefactors a lovely holiday and a joyous new year!

Little Kids' Christmas Movietime! Friday, Dec. 14 @ 10 am

Charlie Brown Christmas AND
Shrek the Halls
Not Rated (60 minutes)
Friday, Dec. 14 @ 10 am

In the digitally-remastered 1965 special, Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees everywhere during the Christmas season. Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant, and Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, Charlie Brown needs Linus' help to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is.

The Christmas tree isn’t the only thing green in this new holiday classic. Shrek is back and trying to get into the spirit of the season. After promising Fiona and the kids a Christmas they’ll remember, he is forced to take a crash course in the holiday. But just when he thinks he has everything for their quiet family Christmas just right, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingy and the rest of the gang decide to crash the party. Shrek the Halls is the greatest holiday tale that’s never been told…until now.

These movies and shows are specifically for our preschool set (younger brothers/sisters are welcome). The shows typically run about 1 hour and we provide snacks and comfortable seats for everyone. The kids are welcome to bring blankets/pillows, etc. so they can stretch out on the floor and make themselves comfortable!

No signup is necessary, just drop by! If you have any questions please call the Childrens' Room at 926-4729.

When she hears of a renowned couple's specialist (Steve Carell) in the small town of Great Hope Springs, she attempts to persuade her skeptical husband, a steadfast man of routine, to get on a plane for a week of marriage therapy. Lord of the Rings Movie Marathon

Please join us this Saturday as we screen the extended cut versions of the three Lord of the Rings movies, just in time for the release of The Hobbit next week.  We're staying late just to fit them all in!

The Lord of the Rings is a film trilogy consisting of three epic fantasy films co-written and directed by Peter Jackson and based on the three-volume book of the same name by English author J. R. R. Tolkein. The films are, by subtitle, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). They were distributed by New Line Cinema.
Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth, the three films follow the hobbit Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) as he and a Fellowship embark on a quest to destroy the One Ring, and thus ensure the destruction of its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron. The Fellowship becomes divided and Frodo continues the quest together with his loyal companion Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) and the treacherous Gollum (Andy Serkis). Meanwhile, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), heir in exile to the throne of Gondor, and the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) unite and rally the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, who are ultimately victorious in the War of the Ring. (from Wikipedia).  All three films are rated PG-13.

When: Saturday, December 8, 2012
The Fellowship of the Ring (228 minutes): 9 a.m.
The Two Towers (235 minutes): 1 p.m.
The Return of the King (263 minutes): 5 p.m.
