During the Cold War, the Soviet Union captures U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers after shooting down his U-2 spy plane. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, Powers' only hope is New York lawyer James Donovan (Tom Hanks), recruited by a CIA operative to negotiate his release. Donovan boards a plane to Berlin, hoping to win the young man's freedom through a prisoner exchange. If all goes well, the Russians would get Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance), the convicted spy who Donovan defended in court.

Event: Writing Our Way: Teen Creative Writing Group


Writing Our Way
A creative writing group for teens
With author/poet Christie Close
We’re offering a special writing group specifically for teen writers.

Writer’s choice; fiction, poetry, non fiction or memoir

         Do you have an interest in writing and would like learn more?
         Do you love the idea of developing your own story?
         Would you like to meet other writers and share your writing?

Each week spend time freewriting with fun prompts, creative exercises and supportive guidance provided by Christie. Then you will have the choice to read and listen to readings of other writers. Suggestions for a few hours of writing on your own each week will be given.

Wednesday, 3-5 PM at the library, Jan 20 through Feb 24, 2016.
Writer's party and public readings on Wednesday, March 2nd at 6:30 PM

This is a 6 week series. Attending all meetings is recommended, but is not a requirement. We will complete the series with an optional public reading, on the evening of March 2nd, to celebrate the writers who complete the series.

REGISTRATION:  The series is voluntary and drop-in, but to give Christie an idea of how many people will be showing up, we ask that participants register either at the library Circulation Desk or by sending an email to smazur(at)hampton.lib.nh.us.

Winter Storytimes start Monday, January 11 (Ages 0-5)

Winter Storytimes run from Monday, January 11 through Thursday, February 18. The Children's Room offers a variety of ages/days of the week so that everyone can enjoy a Story Time. Pick the day/time that works best for you and your child and drop in!  
  • Baby Lapsit with Miss Kathy (Ages 0 - 15 months) This is a drop-in story time for infants/toddlers and their caregivers that will last approximately 15-20 minutes.  It will include action rhymes and stories, tickles and songs and bounces! Mondays at 11 am in the Children's Room.
  • Wiggles and Giggles with Miss Wendy (Ages 15 months - 3 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. A snack is included (peanut-free). If your child has a gluten or egg allergy please feel free to bring your own snack. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30 am (runs approximately 20 minutes) in the Children's Room.
  • Bookworms with Miss Paulina (age 3-4 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. Wednesdays at 10:30 am (runs approximately 25 minutes) in the Children's Room.
  • Reading Roundup with Miss Paulina (age 4-5 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. Thursdays at 10 am (runs approximately 25-30 minutes) in the Children's Room.

These movies and shows are specifically for our preschool set (younger brothers/sisters are welcome). The shows typically run about 1 hour and we provide snacks and comfortable seats for everyone. The kids are welcome to bring blankets/pillows, etc. so they can stretch out on the floor and make themselves comfortable.
