Celebrate National Library Week

In honor of National Library Week, the Lane Memorial Library will be offering free coffee and donuts to our morning visitors throughout the week beginning on Monday, April 14th. After becoming suitably glucosed and caffeinated, patrons are welcome to browse our continually expanding DVD collection, enjoy a magazine or newspaper in our new periodical lounge chairs, or pick up a best-seller hot off the press.

On Saturday, April 19th, from 2-4 PM in the Lane Room, the Hampton Beach Beautification Committee and the Hampton Energy Committee will be showing Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, with discussion to follow.

And for our younger patrons …

Be “ENCHANTED” on Monday, April 14th from 3-6 pm

Come join us at a showing of the Disney film “Enchanted,” starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Susan Sarandon.

This film has it all: laughs, romance, music, danger, New York City, a feisty chipmunk, and helpful cockroaches.

This event is specifically for children ages five to ten. PLEASE NOTE that youngsters aged six and under MUST be accompanied by an adult throughout the film.

Please phone the Children’s Room at 926-4729 to ensure a spot.

ANIMAL SLEEP OVER AT THE LIBRARY!!!

What would your stuffed animal do if it had a sleepover in the Children’s Room of the Lane Library? Would it join a story time? Play on the computer? Read a magazine? Listen to an audiobook?

Find out, by bringing one of your dolls or stuffed animals (NOT your favoritest favorite one, though. You’ll want to keep that with you ☺) into the Children’s Room on Monday, April 14th between 2-6 p.m..

Your animal will be tagged with your name and number on it, so it won’t get mixed up with anybody else’s. We’ll take photos of how your animal used the Lane Library and send a copy on to you. We’ll also print out a copy and post it in the Children’s Room with your first name and that of your animal, so everybody sees what a good time it had!

The following day (Tuesday, April the 15th) you can pick up your animal in the Children’s Room and take it back home with you.
