MLK Day Events

The library will be open on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 17 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. We will be offering several family events throughout the day in the Lane Room/Weston Theater, including:

MLK Day Family Concert
with T.J. Wheeler
3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.

T.J. Wheeler is a blues and jazz guitarist, vocalist, educator, and overall musical activist. As a soloist or with his band, T.J. takes his audience from Delta Blues to New Orleans second line jazz to his contemporary blues and jazz original compositions.

The theme “Soul Force” was a term Dr. King often used to describe his nonviolent philosophy and Civil Rights movement. Wheeler will expand on how the passive resistant movement was energized by Dr. King's use of both Gospel & Soul music.

Admission for all events is FREE. Snacks/drinks provided by the Friends of the Lane Memorial Library.
