Teen Writers' Workshop

Lane Library is excited to host a new after school program.
-Stephen King

Open to Grades 6th – 12th.
Drop-ins are always welcome.
Dates: Tuesdays, October 7th and 21st
Tuesdays, November 4th and 18th
Time: 4:00-5:00pm.
Interested in creative writing? Join other teen writers every month to stretch the imagination with new techniques and diverse prompts that will inspire your creative writing process. Feel free to bring any of your writing with you. This is a great opportunity to hone your writing skills, share your work, and receive helpful feedback.
In conjunction with the Writers' Workshop we'll also have a guest author discuss with our teen group about their experience with writing.
Our Workshop will be lead by the talented and avid writer, Tamara J. Collins.
Tamara spent her early years riding horses, dancing, and breaking down gender barriers at Vermont Academy as their first female Varsity snowboarder.  While studying at UNH she spent time as a DJ on WUNH-FM. She hosted "No Rules", "Return to the Goddess" and "Red Hot Rock 'n Roll." Along with her on air accomplishments, she continued to be involved in a number of writing endeavors like The New Hampshire, The Seacoast Writers Circle, and the Seacoast Writers Association.
She is the Founder of The Portsmouth Writers Salon and a member of The New Hampshire Writers Project. Her interviews and reviews have appeared in Discover Hollywood, Lollipop, and elsewhere. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2006 with a B.A. in English.
A short list of her present activities include:
2013-Present Portsmouth Writers Salon (Founder/Director)
2013-Present Sheafe Street Books (Intern Out-of-Print/Rare/Used Books)
2014-Present Local Poetress with readings at Beat Night at the PressRoom, and The Portsmouth Poet Laureate Hoot Night at Cafe Espresso.
Tamara is a passionate reader, writer, skateboarder, and supporter of all things creative and imaginative. We're thrilled to have her work with our teens over the next two months.
