Friends Spring Raffle

The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library would like to announce a “spring” raffle in honor of Mother’s Day or other special events. Seacoast Framer of Hampton has generously donated the framing of Ruth Stimson “art” note cards. The art cards are thematically framed and include the following: four landscapes are framed in antique gold with an olive green mat, three seascape scenes are beautifully set into a midnight blue mat and bronze gold frame, two water scenes are surround by a steel blue mat and rich mahogany frame, and a cluster of delicate pink wild roses are double matted with pink and ivory in an antique gold braided frame.  The raffle tickets will be one for $1 or 6 for $5. Tickets can be purchased at the circulation desk at the Lane Memorial Library in Hampton. Proceeds will benefit library programs.  The drawing will be held on May 12th.

In addition to the framed art raffle, the Friends will continue to sell the Ruth Stimson art note cards. Stimson is fondly remembered by many in Hampton as a true “Renaissance Woman.”  She was a talented artist, passionate environmentalist, educator, community leader, library supporter, and expert gardener.  As a Hampton resident, she served in several capacities for the Lane Memorial Library.  She was a member of several organizations including the Hampton Garden Club and Historical Society.  After her death, her artwork was given to the Lane Memorial Library and sold at a silent auction. Several pieces have been selected and reproduced as note cards.  It is very fitting that these fine reproductions of her artwork will serve as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Lane Memorial Library.  They can be purchased at the library and at the Tuck Museum in Hampton for $10 per set of 5 note cards. We are honored and excited to be able to make her work available for all to enjoy. The note cards are available at the circulation desk and at the Tuck Museum.
