"Up" and "Star Trek" in our new Weston Theater
Due to a generous bequest by the late Richard Weston, the Lane Memorial Library has been able to install a wide-screen theater and sound system in our Wheaton J. Lane Room. Featuring a 110" screen, state-of-the art blu-ray projector and surround sound, the Weston Theater is now open to the public!
Our first feature film, the wonderful Pixar film "Up", will be shown at 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 12th. Suitable for all ages, this movie follows the adventures of Carl, a retired balloon salesman who decides one day to fulfill his childhood dream of finding Paradise Falls. Joined by Russell, a boy determined to get his Wilderness Explorer "Helping the Elderly" badge, and a dim-witted (talking) golden retriever named Doug, Carl indeed does make his way to South America, with many a surprise along the way.
On November 19th, also at 6:00 PM, we will show "Star Trek", the critically acclaimed and popular 'prequel' to the original television show. Filled with eye-popping visuals, great performances by a stellar young cast, and a gripping plot line, this movie is great fun even if you are not a fan of the series.
Both films are FREE and open to the public. Be sure to come a bit early for a good seat!
Speaking of which, we would also like to thank the Friends of the Lane Memorial Library for their generous purchase this year of 60 comfortable chairs for the Lane Room and Weston Theater.
