"Some day I'd like to write a novel"

Well, that "some day" is here. November is National Novel Writers Month, known to thousands of nascent authors as NaNoWriMo, a time to sit down and write a 50,000 word draft in 30 days. "Can't be done" you say? Many published authors (such as Sara Gruen of Water for Elephants fame) might disagree, having gotten their start in a NaNoWriMo writing sprint.

Join us on Saturday, October 8th, at 2:30 PM in the Lane Room as Heather Ouellette-Cygan from the New Hampshire Writer's Project will be on hand to guide mere mortals and hopeful authors through the fun and slightly insane project of writing a first draft in one month. Heather will talk about resources available on the NaNoWriMo website and discuss ways of finding the time to write, a bit about the nuts-and-bolts of building a novel, how to stay motivated, and what to do after the draft is done. The seminar is free and open to the public.

In November the Lane Library will host four weekend "writing spaces" to encourage those who take the plunge, so keep an eye on our blog for more details!
