Columbus Day Soup contest
The Lane Memorial Library presents our first annual Soup of the Americas family cook-off day on Monday, October 8th at 12 noon. We invite anyone from our library community to enter your family favorite soup featuring an ingredient unique to the New World to win! Soups made with at least one 'New World' ingredient will be served upstairs at noon and judged both by a popular vote and a Chef's Choice. Prizes include a gift basket and $50 gift certificate to Philbrick's Fresh Market for first place, a $25 gift certificate to Philbrick's Fresh Market for second place, and a $25 gift certificate to Savory Square Bistro for Chef's Choice.
A registration form listing the 10 'New World' ingredients is available here, with printed copies at the upstairs Circulation Desk. Please return your registration form by Monday, October 1st, and bring your entry in a crock pot to the library between 11:00 and 11:30 AM on the day of competition. Soups will be served at 12:00 PM, and voting will close at 12:45 PM. There will be a professional chef presentation courtesy of Chez Boucher in the Lane Room at 1 PM, followed by an announcement of the winners.
