Reading Buddies

For Teens:

I am still looking for volunteers for our Reading Buddies Program.

The Reading Buddies Program involves a group of teenagers reading one-on-one with a group of children every week. You'll read books together, tell stories, play word games, write stories - anything to help younger children become better readers.

To start off our program we will have a training session Tuesday, June 30th 5:30-7:30 pm. I will be providing Flatbread pizza.

Teens commit to 5 sessions of reading on July 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, & Aug 3rd from 4:00-4:30 pm.

To comply with NH Department of Labor Regulations, I will have to have those 12-15 get a Employer Request for Child Labor Form filled out. The form is obtained from the library. Then both teen and parent will have to go to their SAU school office with a birth certificate or evidence of date of birth, and have it signed by the school. The school will then issue a NH Youth Employment Certificate which comes back to the library.

If you are interested in being a Reading Buddy, please contact me ASAP for the proper forms and further information. Call 926-3368 or email stacycmazur@gmail.com

For Parents:

I are still accepting sign-ups for children 5-8 years old for Reading Buddy. Please be aware that the aim is to have one teen for one child, so space is limited. If you're interested in signing up your child, please contact me directly via email at stacycmazur@gmail.com or call 926-3368. We can take down your name and information, and will try our best to match your child with a teen.

-Stacy
