Raffle items, doll clothes and baked goods featured at library's holiday fundraiser

Looking for that special present for the holidays but want to avoid long lines at the stores?  Well look no longer -- visit the library, get your holiday shopping done while avoiding the stress of the mall and support your local public library.

On Friday and Saturday, December 7 and 8, the Friends of the Lane Library is hosting a two-day holiday fundraiser featuring a bake sale, doll clothes sale and raffle.

On the bake sale table, attendees can choose from a delicious array of holiday baked goods and desserts.  Ideal homemade treats to use as hostess gifts or when guests drop in for a holiday visit.

The doll clothes sale offers a wide selection of hand-made clothes that fit the American Girl Doll and Bitty Baby.  Choose from casual every-day clothes to festive velvet party dresses, flannel pajamas, nightgowns and robes, as well as winter outer gear.  Items sell quickly so come early.

Thanks to Fleurs de Margrit of Hampton Falls, Naturally Silk of Hampton and Barrymore Designs of North Hampton for donating the three floral arrangements for the raffle.  Arrangements include a Santa Sleigh centerpiece and two festive wreaths.   Also being raffled off is a 50-minute massage donated by Synergy Health and Fitness Center in Exeter.  Get your raffle tickets now through December 8 at the Lane Memorial Library.  Raffle tickets are $1 a piece or six tickets for $5.

In addition to the December 7 and 8 Holiday Fundraiser, library patrons during the holiday season can purchase note cards by Ruth Stimson, a well-known educator, community leader, environmentalist and artist.  The note cards feature reproductions of Stimson’s artwork and are $10 per set of five note cards.  Ruth Stimson notecards can be purchased at the circulation desk at the library and are also available at the Tuck Museum and at Oceanside Real Estate and Inn Gift Shop, 365 Ocean Boulevard in Hampton.

Also available are the 2008 Entertainment Books featuring discount coupons for area restaurants, stores and movie theatres.  Each book contains a membership card good for 2 for 1 dining as well as discount coupons for shopping, movie tickets, travel, goods and services in New Hampshire, Southern Maine and Massachusetts.  Individual books are $25 and can be purchased at the Library’s circulation desk.  The books also include discount coupons for airlines, hotels, rental cars and national chain stores. A great stocking stuffer or extra special present topper.

All proceeds raised from the December 7 and 8 Holiday Fundraiser as well as the sales of Ruth Stimson notecards and 2008 entertainment books benefit the Friends, a multi-age volunteer organization whose mission is to preserve and strengthen Hampton's library as a community resource through speakers, exhibits, special events and fundraisers.
