Disaster Planning 10/15 at 6:30 PM

Through its Ready campaign, the U. S. Department of Homeland Security educates and empowers Americans to take some simple steps to prepare for and respond to potential emergencies, including natural disasters and terrorist attacks.  Ready asks individuals to do three things: get an emergency supply kit, make a family emergency plan, and be informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.

To help Hampton residents prepare for emergencies, the library will host a Preparing for Disaster seminar on Monday, October 15th at 6:30 PM, presented by a FEMA representative.  The talk is free of charge, and just in time for the Winter ahead!

Laskey Reception Oct. 4 from 4-7 PM

The staff at the Lane Library is pleased to welcome Hampton Resident Richard Laskey as our featured artist during the month of October.  Richard has been painting since 1992 and his works hang in corporate and private collections around the world. The power of the ocean has been a constant source of energy and inspiration in Richard's expressive Impressionistic work. Primarily self taught, he is constantly experimenting with color and light in translating the power of the image onto the canvas.

Richard will be available at the library to discuss his work during the Hampton Artwalk on Thursday, October 4th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the Weston Gallery, with light refreshments provided by the library.  All are welcome.
