Spring Storytimes!

Spring Storytimes are coming up fast! The Children's Room offers a variety of ages/days of the week so that everyone can enjoy a Story Time. Pick the day/time that works best for you and your child and drop in! This session runs from Monday, March 16 through Thursday, April 23.
  • Baby Lapsit with Miss Nicole (Ages 0 - 15 months) This is a drop-in story time for infants/toddlers and their caregivers that will last approximately 15-20 minutes.  It will include action rhymes and stories, tickles and songs and bounces! Mondays at 11 am in the Children's Room. (Please have one adult present for each infant/toddler.)
  • Wiggles and Giggles with Miss Wendy (Ages 15 months - 3 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. A snack is included (peanut-free). If your child has a gluten or egg allergy please feel free to bring your own snack. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9:30 am (runs approximately 20 minutes) in the Children's Room.
  • Bookworms with Miss Paulina (age 3-4 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. Wednesdays at 10:30 am (runs approximately 25 minutes) in the Lane Room.
  • Reading Roundup with Miss Paulina (age 4-5 years) Includes stories, songs, activities, bubbles and dancing. Thursdays at 10 am (runs approximately 25-30 minutes) in the Lane Room.

Storytimes for Winter Break (Wed. 2/25 & Fri. 2/27)

Paddington Storytime
Wednesday, Feb. 25 @ 10 am
Miss Paulina will share Paddington and other teddy bear stories for this drop-in storytime. Please feel free to dress up like Paddington or bring a stuffed teddy bear with you.




NHSPCA visits the library!
Friday, Feb. 27 @ 10 am
The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will visit the library for a storytime and bring some special furry friend guests. Since the NHSPCA does this event for free, we are asking patrons to please bring a donation for the shelter animals with them. Suggested items include cat/kitten food, dog/puppy food, cat/dog toys, tennis balls, blankets and towels.

"Stories of the Portsmouth Naval Prison" - Monday, 2/23 @ 6:30 PM


Plan to join us in the downstairs Lane Room on Monday, February 23 at 6:30 PM for a behind-the-scenes look at the history of the Portsmouth Naval Prison, known as "The Castle" and "The Alcatraz of the East".  Filmmaker Neil Novello will present clips from his recently produced documentary, discuss his research, and take questions from the audience.

The Theory of Everything is the story of the most brilliant and celebrated physicist of our time, Stephen Hawking, and Jane Wilde the arts student he fell in love with whilst studying at Cambridge in the 1960s. Little was expected from Stephen Hawking, a bright but shiftless student of cosmology, given just two years to live following the diagnosis of a fatal illness at 21 years of age. He became galvanized, however, by the love of fellow Cambridge student, Jane Wilde, and he went on to be called the successor to Einstein, as well as a husband and father to their three children. Over the course of their marriage as Stephen's body collapsed and his academic renown soared, fault lines were exposed that tested the lineaments of their relationship and dramatically altered the course of both of their lives.

These movies and shows are specifically for our preschool set (younger brothers/sisters are welcome). The shows typically run about 1 hour and we provide snacks and comfortable seats for everyone. The kids are welcome to bring blankets/pillows, etc. so they can stretch out on the floor and make themselves comfortable.
