The Twilight Book Club reads "Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweet"

On Tuesday, April 6th at 6:30 PM, the Twilight Book Club will meet to discuss Jamie Ford's Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweet.

Set mainly in the Seattle during the 1940s during the worst of WWII, Ford's novel illumines the world of young Henry Lee, and his growing friendship with Keiko Okabe, a Japanese American student. With his focus on the Asian immigrant experience and a grim reminder of the Japanese "resettlement" camps, Ford has crafted a memorable novel about endurance and hope in a time and place that should not be forgotten.

Book group copies are available at the Circulation Desk. For more information, contact Darrell Eifert at deifert (at) hampton.lib.nh.us

The Twilight Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Dorothy Little room.

Break Free from Perfect! - Author talk

On Saturday, March 27th at 10 AM, Eileen Palazzolo will be at the Lane Memorial Library to read from her new book FREE FROM PERFECT. After successfully battling an eating disorder, Eileen wrote this book to help others overcome debilitating and unrealistic dieting goals, to rise above the stereotypes she herself was pinned down by for so many years. "Yo-yo dieting, starvation and bulimia consumed my life," she laments, "until I began replacing self-hatred with self-love." "I believe that all 'diets' are a temporary state of hell. There is no such thing as a 'quick fix.'" That said, Palazzolo designed a program to last forever that has been leaving her students with feelings of self-empowerment, self-confidence and self-control. A fitness and gymnastics instructor who has run her "Free" program out of Southern NH for several years, Eileen will be on hand to answer questions from the audience, and sign copies of her book. For more information, contact Darrell Eifert at (603) 926-3368.

Weston Theater - "Sherlock Holmes"

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 8th at 6:30 PM, and Saturday, April 10th at 3:30 PM for Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie's ambitious reinvention of everyone's favorite literary detective. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as a brawling but brilliant Holmes and Jude Law as the long-suffering Dr. Watson, Ritchie's film moves along at a hurricane pace through the dark back alleys of old London as our heroes chase down a mesmeric cult leader rumored to have come back from the dead ...

Both movies are free of charge, with popcorn and drinks provided by the Friends of the Library.

MOMS' NIGHT OUT!!

If you are a Hampton mom in need of a free night away from it all (and what mom isn't in need of that?), the Children's Room has the remedy for you:

Please join us for our first-ever Moms' Night Out!

We are offering snacks at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17th in the Lane Room, with the recently released DVD Up in the Air showing at 6 p.m. sharp.

Up in the Air was nominated for six Academy Awards, including best picture and best actor (George Clooney). It tells the story of a happy loner who travels from business to business firing people until some unexpected events shake up his own world.

The words "funny" and "fired" don't usually go together, but director Jason Reitman (Juno; Thank You for Smoking) is a master of finding the hilarious aspects of hairy situations.

Come see for yourself!

(And did we mention George Clooney? =)

Up in the Air is rated R and runs 109 minutes.

Please call us at 926-4729 or visit us in the Children's Room to reserve a spot.

We look forward to seeing you, ladies!
