Shake it up with some new magazines

Have you read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin? Each month for a year Gretchen decided to do something different in her life to promote happiness. During the month of May, under the theme "Be Serious About Play," she indulged in three new magazines. Take a cue from Gretchen. But instead of spending $$$, come to the library and try out three new magazines you've never read before.

Addicted to Architectural Digest? Try Outside.

Like Cooks Illustrated? Try Chile Pepper.

Or take an indulgent peek at Mad Magazine - we dare you! Nobody's looking.

Mad Hatter Tea Party Theater

This year, the Lane Memorial Library is celebrating Mad Hatter Day with a special viewing of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. (We're going with the British date to coincide with the release of the DVD.)

You've heard of dinner theater? Well, we're having a Mad Hatter Tea Party Theater! We'll munch on traditional English tea things before and while we enjoy the newly released movie on the big screen in Lane Library's Weston Theater. Tea is served at 4:00 p.m. on June 10.

This program is open to library patrons ages 10-19. Sign-up is necessary due to the dining aspect of this theater experience. Please contact Teen Services Librarian Kirsten Corbett @ 926-3368 or by email: kcorbett@hampton.lib.nh.us.

Alice in Wonderland is rated PG. Tim Burton brings his unique take on the classic Lewis Carroll story about a girl named Alice to the big screen. Alice falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy realm populated by talking playing cards, the raging Red Queen and a stark raving Mad Hatter.
