Mad Hatter Tea Party Theater

This year, the Lane Memorial Library is celebrating Mad Hatter Day with a special viewing of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. (We're going with the British date to coincide with the release of the DVD.)

You've heard of dinner theater? Well, we're having a Mad Hatter Tea Party Theater! We'll munch on traditional English tea things before and while we enjoy the newly released movie on the big screen in Lane Library's Weston Theater. Tea is served at 4:00 p.m. on June 10.

Alice in Wonderland is rated PG. Tim Burton brings his unique take on the classic Lewis Carroll story about a girl named Alice to the big screen. Alice falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy realm populated by talking playing cards, the raging Red Queen and a stark raving Mad Hatter.

Halloween Movie Marathon

Need some time to relax, get into the Halloween mood, catch up on your Halloween movies? The Lane Memorial Library is the place for you! Not only do we have plenty of movies in our collection for you to check out, but on Saturday, October 31, we will be having a Halloween Movie Marathon in our new Weston Theater (a.k.a. the Lane Room)!

The fun starts at 9:15 A.M. and continues through until just before we close up for the day at 5:00 P.M. Light refreshments will be provided by the library, but feel free to bring snacks, a sack lunch, blankets, pillows, etc. to get the most out of your movie watching experience!
Feel free to come or go for the movies that interest you. MPAA ratings progress as the movie marathon progresses. Use your own discretion.

Here's the lineup:

9:15 A.M. Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie, rated G, 67 minutes
Pooh and the gang are back in the hilariously haunted Hundred Acre Wood. Roo’s new friend Lumpy the Heffalump is ready for his first trick-or-treat in the woods but they soon discover that Pooh has eaten all of the candy. They bravely set off to find the “gobloon” that Tigger has told them about which will grant a wish so they can save Halloween!

~10:25 A.M. Coraline, rated PG, 100 minutes
Coraline is a curious young girl who unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home and enters into an adventure in a parallel reality. On the surface, this "Other World" eerily mimics her own life - though it is much more fantastical. While encountering different versions of her own life ultimately, Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home.

The storyline of this heavily anticipated picture revolves around a monster attack in New York as told from the point of view of a small group of people.



~1:45 P.M. The Amityville Horror, rated R, 90 minutes
On November 14, 1974, police received a frantic phone call that led them to the DeFeo residence, where they discovered the family slaughtered by one of their sons who claimed that the voices made him do it. The next year, The Lutz family moved in only to last less than a month before the demons in this truly haunted house drove them out. This film is based on one of the scariest true stories ever told.

~3:20 P.M. The Lost Boys, rated R, 97 minutes
Hip, party-loving teenage vampires are terrorizing the seemingly quiet seaside community of Santa Cruz. When Michael (Jason Patric) moves to the city with his family, he falls for the head vampire’s (Kiefer Sutherland) girl (Jami Gertz) and unwittingly finds himself in a world of trouble in this vampire story with a comic twist.
